A Fond Farewell To Kara

8/8/2024

It is with mixed emotions that we announce Kara will be leaving Bon Voyage.   The good news is that Kara has accepted a Recruitment and Accounts Manager position with our travel consortium -MAST- located in Chicago. Professionally, we will be interacting with her often and she is still in the travel business.  This is a very good opportunity for her.

While we are excited for her new opportunity, we will definitely miss her in the office.  Kara was the first employee we hired.   She started off selling travel and then with the growth of  group travel, became our group travel coordinator.   Kara worked for us through some major life events including two pregnancies.  It's been fun to watch her life evolve.

This newsletter is dedicated to all things Kara.  She's picked out the content or written it for most of the letter.

Au Revoir, Kara.  We wish you the very best.

Love, Mom

DESTINATION OF THE WEEK
Kara's Favorite Travel Destination
From Kara:

There are so many places that have a special place in my heart. Belgium is where I spent the first two years of my marriage, New Zealand is where I had the pleasure of meeting Geoff's family, and Florence, Italy was where my love of travel was truly born.

However, my all-time favorite travel location is Poland. This summer, my husband and I took our whole family to Poland. I have been to Poland several times but this trip was extra special. Not only would my family meet my husband's, but we were introducing our children to their extended family in Poland. Our journey began in Krakow. We went to Wieliczka Salt Mine on a half-day tour, visited Oskar Schindler's factory, and took an emotional, full-day tour of Auschwitz.

We then went to Zabrze for the family reunion. My 19 family members were so excited to meet Marian's aunts, uncles, and cousins. We had an incredible, 5-course Polish meal, with plenty of vodka toasts, and enjoyed getting to know each other. It was emotional for my husband and I to watch our children meet and interact with their great-aunts and uncles.

We finished our trip in the Tatras Mountains in the picturesque town of Zakopane. We did activities that my husband grew up doing. We went rafting down a river and hiked up to Morski Oko. I cannot wait to go back here again.

If you love Europe but are sick of the crowds, then you need to visit Poland. It is a hidden gem. A country with history, a hospitable culture, and a wide variety of landscapes to experience.

TRAVEL TIP OF THE WEEK
Kara's Tips for Traveling with Kids

When traveling with kids, we plan ahead by packing their favorite snacks. This saves us money at the airport and ensures the kids get their favorites even when in a foreign country. My husband uses a cosmetic case to store all the snacks in one, organized place.
Also, if you're worried about your young kids' ears popping during takeoff and landing, pack suckers!
