fresh winter vacation options

9/22/2023

Right about now, many of our client's thoughts are turning to winter vacations. The days are getting shorter, the temperature is starting to drop and it's a good time to think about  winter destinations and the type of vacation you'd like to experience.

For those traveling with family, things get especially tight when planning for Spring Break.  Sara is our staff certified Disney and Universal Studios Specialist and knows the latest and greatest when it comes to planning those destinations. She's just returned from a trip visiting both locations and is happy to share her expertise.

There are some warm weather destinations that are worth checking out that are an alternative to the usual locations.  I polled the staff and listed in the next section are some of their recommendations.

Whatever you choose, we can help you.  It's super fun for the staff to plan these vacations and they have a wealth of knowledge and experience to guide you in your selection.

alternative options for winter vacations

Huatulco, Mexico - Bahías de Huatulco has always existed as an undulating stretch of coastline with golden, crescent-shaped beaches, thick groves of languidly swaying palms, and a backdrop of the green Sierra Madre del Sur and Sierra Madre de Oaxaca mountains.

Bahías de Huatulco as a resort destination is fairly new. It was constructed about four decades ago by Mexico's National Tourism Fund to become a tourist attraction, much like Cancun in Quintana Roo, You won’t find high-rise hotels or luxury shopping malls in Huatulco. Instead, the vibe here is more low-key, with giant swaths of land remaining protected to preserve the lush jungle environment.

La Romana,  Domincan Republic -Luxurious La Romana offers over 800 hotel rooms, as well as world-renowned golf courses. Nearby, the Bayahíbe and Dominicus area, a charming fishing hub, boasts large all-inclusive beachfront resorts with more than 4,000 hotel rooms–perfect for medium-sized events.
Located just 25 minutes’ drive east of La Romana, the eco-adventure rich area of Bayahíbe was originally a picturesque fishing town. Today, it offers the perfect beach and ecotourism complement with adjacent Blue-Flag certified Dominicus Beach and its full-scale resorts, as well as Cotubanamá National Park, replete with outdoor activities–from cave exploration to offshore island hopping at Saona and Catalina.

Puerto Rico   Take some time and travel to a tropical island. Hire a cast of thousands to play friendly, welcoming people most of whom speak English (in addition to their native Spanish). When you are looking for exotic locations, miles upon miles of white sand beaches, plus an unbelievable rain forest and mountains, you come to Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico is a modern progressive and civilized vacation spot that maintains the charm and hospitality of days gone by. You will find everything that the Caribbean has to offer in this all around family destination - and with it is a people whose warmth is equaled only by the sunshine that graces its shores.

St. Lucia In natural beauty, St. Lucia seems like an island plucked from the South Pacific and set down in the Caribbean. Its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons, soar 2,000 feet up from the sea, sheltering magnificent rain forests where wild orchids, giant ferns, and birds of paradise flourish. Brilliantly-plumed tropical birds abound, including endangered species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot. The rainforest is broken only by verdant fields and orchards of banana, coconut, mango, and papaya trees.  There are weekly non-stop flights from Chicago to St. Lucia.
