miami beach -a multicultural u.s getaway-

​Geoff and I have been to Miami Beach a few times - because it's just so fun!  It's like being abroad without leaving the country.
 
Miami Beach has three areas; South, Mid, and North Beach.  We've stayed in South and Mid Beach and enjoyed both of them.  South Beach has the iconic Art Deco area along with Lincoln Avenue featuring outstanding restaurants.  It's quite lively with lots of music, clubs and  parties.  Mid-Beach is a bit lower key, however there is a lot going on.  
 
Miami Beach has a definite Latin vibe and it's really fun to experience it.  We've eaten at some outstanding restaurants that are high on our list for “best meals while traveling”.   The beach lives up to the hype.  It goes on for miles and the water is a gorgeous Caribbean blue.  The further north, the quieter the beaches.
 
Miami Beach is a unique experience.  It's easy to get to whether you're vacationing for a few days or longer.  You definitely won't be bored!

Spanning the entire length of Miami Beach, the oceanside promenade offers residents and visitors a unique, nature-based experience. Skip the traffic and get in touch with the great natural beauty that envelops Miami Beach. You’ll find bicycle rentals at specially marked kiosks throughout the island. If you get tired, you can always hop aboard one of the complimentary trolleys that connect the city’s three neighborhoods — South Beach, Mid Beach and North Beach.

take a south beach walking tour

Since the 1920s, Miami Beach has been synonymous with glamour, glitz, and non-stop sun. The epicenter of the beach is really on the barrier island’s south end.   At 17 blocks long and 12 blocks wide, South Beach is a perfect place for a long walk. Plus, there are plenty of cool things to see—from the famous Carlyle Hotel to Gianni Versace’s Casa Casuarina to the Cardozo Hotel, which you’ll probably recognize from some famous Hollywood blockbusters. Tours usually begin at Art Deco Welcome Center, near Lummus Park Beach, and last about an hour or two.
