New  york  museum  tour

Join Bon Voyage Boutique Travel as we tour some of the world's most iconic museums and cultural institutions in NYC!
April 16-19, 2024

We take a bite out of the Big Apple as we tour New York City. The Met, NYC Library, the Whitney, the Frick Collection, and the Botanical Gardens are just a few of the stops on this four day tour.

Itinerary

April 16 (Day 1)
  • We're headed to the Big Apple! The day starts with a coach transfer to the Milwaukee Airport for flights to New York City. After arrival in NYC, our first stop is the Metropolitan Museum of Art where a docent leads us on a tour. For over 150 years, the magnificent Met has housed over 5,000 pieces of art collected from around the world and representing the best of the ages. Then, we stop at the Strand Bookstore where we can lose ourselves amid the shelves of new, used, and rare books. We have time to refresh at our hotel before heading to dinner as a group.
April 17 (Day 2)
  • Patience and Fortitude, the New York City Library lions have been welcoming visitors since 1911. We start our day at this iconic institution, a beautiful Beaux-Arts building that was the largest marble building ever constructed in the United States at the time of its construction. We take a self-guided audio tour of the "Treasures Exhibit." From here, we travel south to Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village. The 9.75 acre park features an iconic arch, and serves as a public meeting space for New Yorkers of all ages. Our next stop is the Whitney Museum, dedicated to the art of American artists. Our final stop is the collection of the Frick Museum, temporarily housed on Madison Avenue while the museum is under renovation. The building was previously home of the Whitney Museum, and provides a perfect background to rediscover the highlights of the Frick. We relax and share thoughts on our museum visits over dinner this evening.
April 18 (Day 3)
  • After breakfast we travel to the New York Botanical Garden, 250 acres of indoor and outdoor green spaces that curate some of the most unique plant species from around the world. We visit the conservatory, special exhibits and rock garden, and take a wonderful tram through the massive park. We have lunch at the garden. This afternoon , we visit the Morgan Library and Museum, a stunning collection of rare manuscripts, musical scores, children's books, and more housed in a beautiful building in the heart of New York. This evening we are free, with the option of attending a Broadway Show.
April 19 (Day 4)
  • We start a little later this morning with brunch at Le Pain Quotiden, a busy NYC establishment. Then we visit the American Museum of Natural History. The famous blue whale and dinosaur skeletons compete for attention with the beautiful architecture of the building. Other highlights are the Butterfly Vivarium, Invisible Worlds (the ties that bind all life), and the soaring space of the Gilder Center. We have free time to enjoy Times Square before returning to the airport for dinner on our own before our flights back to Wisconsin.
