​Escape the cold winter weather and join us in sunny Puerto Rico for a foodie tour of the island! No passports needed on this winter getaway, making it a hassle-free adventure. Unpack once as we stay the entire time at the Caribe Hilton. The resort is very close to Old San Juan, is the birthplace of the Piña Colada, and has a great beach to layout and soak in the sun.

Puerto Rico is known for their food scene and this tour will take you on several stops to experience the wide variety of local cuisine. We'll visit the famed Pork Highway, where sizzling aromas waft from roadside stalls. Enjoy a stop at the oldest rum distillery in Puerto Rico and learn the secrets behind the island's renowned spirit. Visit colorful Old San Juan for a food tour that encapsulates the island's rich history and diverse heritage. This and more are what Brittany has prepared for the first of her many foodie tours!

Itinerary

January 27 (Sat)

• Arrive in beautiful Puerto Rico. Transfer from the airport to the Caribe Hilton for the next 5 nights. Tonight, join the group for a welcome at a local restaurant.

​January 28 (Sun)

• Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before setting out on the full day tour of the Pork Highway. This highway showcases one of Puerto Rico's culinary delicacies and gastronomic heritage: spit-roasted pork. Traditionally, lechón is a whole pig roasted over coals for several hours until it's juicy and crispy. This meat is marinated in adobo for hours- sometimes days, to make the pork flavorful and mouthwatering. Enjoy roadside eateries where you'll try their specialty and talk to the owners about their delicious food. This evening, enjoy dinner on your own in town or at the resort.

January 29 (Mon)

• Eat breakfast at the hotel and spend the morning at your leisure. This afternoon, journey into Old San Juan for a foodie tour! Join you local guide as you walk at a relaxed pace along the cobblestones of Viejo San Juan and learn about the gastronomy and history of Puerto Rican culture. Make stops along the way at various restaurants where you will have the chance to taste and savor delicious local flavors. You will leave the experience feeling full and with a greater appreciation of Puerto Rico.  After the Foodie Tour, spend time exploring the quaint streets of Old San Juan and the Fort!

January 30 (Tues)

• Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. This afternoon, journey to one of the oldest rum distilleries in Puerto Rico. Take a tour and learn about the history and heritage of this distillery. After the tour, take part in a mixology class and learn how to make delicious cocktails with local rum. After the tour, go back to the hotel and enjoy an evening on your own.

January 31 (Wed)

• The day is yours to enjoy as you see fit! Lay out on the beach, have some cocktails by the pool, explore Old San Juan, or join Brittany for an optional cooking class. Discover the tastes and textures of Puerto Rican cuisine during an optional private cooking class! Gather around a kitchen island as the chef introduces himself and shares a brief history of the foods of the Caribbean and the menu of the day. During the hands-on cooking class, you will prepare a seasonal appetizer, entrée, and dessert. 

February 1 (Thurs)

• Bid Puerto Rico goodbye as your transfer takes your from the hotel to the airport for your flight home.
